How old do I have to be to get a card?

The card is recommended for teenagers and adults. DIG recommends that the person be at least 14 years old to request a card.

Do I need to watch the videos on your website?

Yes, the videos will explain how to use the wallet card safely. It is very important to watch the videos before you use the card.

Will this card keep me from getting arrested?

No, if you break the law, you will be arrested.  The purpose of this card is to clarify any misunderstanding you might have with the police because of your disability.  It is NOT a “get out of jail free” card.

Will a police officer know that I have a wallet card?

No, the police officer does not know if you have a wallet card.

You will need to ask permission to show the officer your wallet card.

Why does DIG need my email address?

In case DIG has any questions, we can contact you. Sometimes we need to ask questions about the information that is sent to us.

Why does DIG need my mailing address?

Can I customize the wallet card?

If you have a specific trigger that you feel is important for the police to know, DIG can customize your wallet card. On the application, you can either choose from the suggestions, or you can write your own suggestion.  Please remember that there is not a lot of room on the card.  DIG will do its best to customize your card the way you would like it.

* Remember, the most we can do is add two customized items to the card.

If you do want to add a second disability, it should only be added if it is something that an officer would need to know quickly to assess a situation.
